Common Shelf

The Common Shelf was designed especially for our shop, COMMON in Helsinki, but with the intention that it should suit a variety of interior spaces. Initially meant just for hanging coats, the shelf was added to create space for displaying and stacking small items, allowing it to serve as a versatile element for an entranceway, a kitchen, or anywhere in the home. The horizontal bar suits draped fabrics, clothing hangers or pots and pans when an ‘S’ hook is added. Produced by Kaksikko in their workshop in Helsinki, the extremely light construction is made of solid ash wood.

Kaksikko

Studio Kaksikko is a Helsinki-based design studio that specializes in ceramic tableware and wooden furniture, founded by Salla Luhtasela and Wesley Walters. The duo shares an interest in functional, understated forms that highlight each material’s tactile qualities, as well as in the production process itself. They met while studying at Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture and have collaborated on a broad range of professional projects under the studio name Kaksikko.
